Sunburst Solar Solutions (“we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our website or contact us, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Most of what we hold is what you choose to share, mainly through our free-assessment and contact forms. That can include:
- Your name, email address, and phone number, if you provide it
- Your property address or city, so we can identify your utility and design considerations
- Details about your home, energy goals, and the services you are interested in
- Any message you send us
When you submit a form, we also attach some technical context about that visit so we can answer you properly and understand which of our pages actually help people. This is collected automatically and sent to us with your request:
- The page you landed on, the pages you viewed on this site, and how long you spent
- The site or search that referred you, and any campaign tags in the link you followed
- Your browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language, and time zone
- Whether you have visited us before
First-party visit context (pages viewed, referrer, device basics) is stored in your own browser and only sent to us when you choose to submit a form. Clearing your browser data erases it. If you never submit a form, that journey log never reaches us.
How we use your information
- To respond to your assessment request or question
- To prepare a design, proposal, and honest recommendation for your home
- To coordinate permitting, utility interconnection, and HOA paperwork if you move forward
- To follow up about your project and provide ongoing support
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties except as needed to deliver the service you asked for (for example, submitting a permit or an interconnection application on your behalf) or as required by law.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-206PDH4P12) to
understand aggregate traffic and which pages help people decide. The script is loaded after
the page is idle or after your first interaction. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP
addresses, and Google signals and ad personalization are turned off in our configuration.
Google may set cookies or use local storage as described in Google’s documentation. We do
not use Google Analytics for personalized advertising on this site.
Form delivery is handled by FormSubmit when you send an assessment request. It emails your request to our team and to the agency that manages this website for us. Social links open Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn on their sites under their own privacy policies.
A few other services help our forms and pages work:
- Address suggestions on the assessment form come from Photon, a service run by komoot that uses OpenStreetMap data. When you type in the street-address field, what you have typed so far is sent to Photon to find matching addresses, before you submit the form.
- Email check. When you submit a form, the domain part of your email address (for example, the part after the @) is looked up through Google Public DNS to confirm it can receive mail. Your full address is not sent.
- Maps. Some pages show our office on an embedded OpenStreetMap map, which loads from OpenStreetMap when the map scrolls into view.
- Google “preferred source” button on blog posts loads from Google News so you can add us as a preferred source in Google search if you choose to.
- Some blog images are served from the content platform that hosts our articles.
You can block analytics cookies via your browser settings or extensions. Site core features (reading pages, calling us, emailing us) work without analytics.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the information you have shared with us at any time. Just email stevemorse@sunburstsolarsolu.com and we will take care of it.
Legal bases and why we hold what we hold
We collect information for one of three reasons: because you gave it to us in order to get something you asked for, because we need it to perform work you have engaged us for, or because we are required to keep it. We do not collect information speculatively in case it becomes useful later.
When you submit an assessment request, the information you provide is used to prepare and deliver a response to that request. That includes your contact details, your address, and the details you give us about your property and energy use. If you become a customer, the same information supports the design, permitting and interconnection work, which necessarily involves sharing specific elements with third parties described below.
Technical information collected automatically when you visit (device type, browser, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the pages you view) is used to understand how the site is used and to keep it working. It is not used to build a profile of you as an individual.
Who we share information with, and why
Permitting authorities and utilities. A solar installation cannot proceed without a building permit from your city or county and an interconnection agreement with your electricity provider. Both require your name, address and system details. This sharing is not optional and is inherent to the work.
Equipment suppliers and manufacturers, where a warranty registration or a serial-number record requires it.
Service providers who operate parts of our infrastructure, including hosting, email delivery and form processing. They process information on our instructions in order to provide those services.
And where we are required to by law, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with other solar companies or with lead-generation services.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become projects are retained for a limited period so that we can respond if you come back to us, and then removed. Records relating to completed installations are kept considerably longer, because warranty obligations, permit records and interconnection agreements can all be relevant many years after the work.
Where a retention period is set by law or by the terms of a warranty, that period governs. Where it is not, we keep information for as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for and no longer.
Security, and an honest limitation
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including limiting access to it within the business and using established providers for the systems that store it. Information submitted through this site is transmitted over an encrypted connection.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and any statement to the contrary should be treated sceptically wherever you encounter it. We can describe the measures we take; we cannot promise an outcome that no organisation can promise.
Children
This site is directed at homeowners and businesses considering solar installations. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of majority. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date shown on this page. Material changes to how we handle information already collected will not be applied retroactively without notice. We would encourage you to check this page if it has been some time since you last read it, and to contact us if anything here is unclear.
Calls, texts and marketing preferences
If you submit a request, you are asking us to get back to you, and the consent box on our forms records permission to do that by phone, text and email. That permission is tied to the request you made and is not a condition of purchase.
You can withdraw it at any time: reply STOP to a text, use the unsubscribe link in an email, or tell whoever you are speaking to. We will record the preference rather than asking you again on the next call. Message and data rates may apply to texts depending on your own plan.
We do not sell contact details and we do not pass enquiries to other solar companies or to lead-generation services. This is worth stating plainly because a good deal of what appears to be a local solar business online is a marketing operation that does exactly that.
What our analytics actually collect
We use analytics to understand which pages are read and where visitors struggle, because a site this size is otherwise impossible to maintain sensibly. That involves collecting page views, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, referring source, and events such as submitting a form or clicking a call button.
It does not involve reading the contents of forms you have not submitted, recording your keystrokes, or combining what you do here with data purchased from anywhere else. Most browsers allow you to block analytics scripts entirely, and the site functions normally if you do.
Cookies, and how to control them
Cookies and similar storage are used for two purposes here. Strictly necessary storage supports basic functioning, such as remembering that you dismissed a banner so it does not reappear on every page. Analytics storage supports the measurement described above.
You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings, and you can usually do so selectively by site. Blocking strictly necessary storage may mean some conveniences stop working; blocking analytics storage has no effect on the site's operation at all.
Your rights over your information
You can ask us what information we hold about you and ask for a copy of it. You can ask us to correct it if it is wrong. You can ask us to delete it, and we will do so unless we are required to keep it. An installation record supporting an active warranty or a permit filing is the usual reason we cannot.
You can also ask us to stop using your information for marketing, which we will action regardless of any other consideration. Exercising any of these rights will not cause us to treat you differently or withdraw a quote.
To make a request, contact us using the details on this page. We may need to confirm your identity before acting, which is a protection for you rather than an obstacle, and we will respond within a reasonable period.
Information collected by third parties
Some elements on this site are served by the third parties listed above. Those providers may set their own storage and collect technical information in order to function. Their handling of that information is governed by their own policies, not by this one.
Our forms screen out automated submissions with checks that run in your browser. No third-party anti-spam service assesses your submission.
Information about your property
Assessing a solar installation involves collecting information about a building as well as about a person. That includes your address, roof characteristics, electrical service details, energy consumption history and, where you provide them, photographs or utility statements.
We treat this as part of your personal information, because at the level of a single address it plainly identifies a household. It is used to design and deliver work you have asked for, and shared only where the work requires it, principally with your permitting authority and your electricity provider, neither of which will process an application without it.
Where you send us a utility bill, we use it to establish consumption and provider. We do not need, and would rather you redact, any account credentials or payment details that happen to appear on it.
Automated decision-making
We do not make decisions about you by automated means. The tools on this site produce illustrative estimates from inputs you enter; they do not score you, rank you, or decide what you are offered. Every proposal is prepared by a person after a site assessment.
Information held outside your direct relationship with us
If your enquiry does not proceed, we hold a limited record of it so that we can recognise you if you come back and so that we can honour a do-not-contact preference. Deleting all trace of a request to stop contacting someone would defeat the purpose of the request, which is the one case where retention protects you rather than us.
If you would prefer that record removed entirely, tell us and we will remove it, with the consequence that a future marketing suppression would need to be re-registered.
Reporting a concern
If you believe your information has been handled improperly, contact us first and we will investigate and tell you what we find. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority, and nothing here is intended to discourage that.
If you become aware of a security problem with this site, reporting it to us privately gives us the chance to fix it before it affects anyone. We will not pursue anyone who reports a genuine issue in good faith and without accessing other people's data.
