A solid roof first, then solar that lasts.
Roof and solar from one accountable team, so a single local crew stands behin
Do I need a new roof before installing solar?
Not always, and roof age alone is the wrong test. What matters is the remaining service life of the covering, the condition of the decking and flashing, and whether the array would need removing and resetting within the system's life. Where a roof has under about a decade left, doing the roof first or both together is usually cheaper than paying for a removal and reset later. We assess the roof before quoting the array rather than after.
The real problem
Putting panels on a worn roof is a repair bill waiting to happen
Solar panels last decades. If your shingles have only a few years left, you could be paying to remove and reinstall an entire array just to replace the roof underneath, and when a leak appears, the roofer blames the solar company and vice versa.
We do it the accountable way: assess the roof honestly, re-roof only if it genuinely needs it, and mount the solar ourselves, so one team owns the roof, the penetrations, and the panels, with nobody to point fingers at.
We handle everything
Roof and solar, one accountable team, start to finish
- 01
Free assessment & roof condition review
We inspect your roof’s age, material, and remaining life alongside your solar design, and tell you honestly whether it needs work before panels go on. No pressure, no fixed quote.
- 02
Re-roof or repair, only if needed
If the roof has years left, we say so. If it doesn’t, we replace or repair it in the same project timeline as your solar, so you never re-roof under an existing array.
- 03
Integrated solar install
The same team mounts your black-on-black panels and seals every roof penetration, flashed and warrantied by us, not a subcontractor.
- 04
One warranty, one point of contact
Roof and solar are covered under our workmanship, including a lifetime roof-penetration warranty. If a penetration we made ever leaks, that’s on us to fix.
That includes the parts homeowners worry about most, see what our lifetime roof-penetration warranty covers, or our residential solar service.
Honest numbers
What it costs, and what actually qualifies
There’s no honest fixed price for roof-and-solar. Here are the real drivers and a straight answer on which parts qualify for incentives.
What drives the price
Roof size, material, pitch and complexity, plus whether it needs replacement or just repair before solar. We only recommend roof work the roof actually needs.
2026 incentives in South Carolina
The solar portion of the project may count toward South Carolina’s 25% state tax credit (up to $3,500/year, carried forward up to 10 years), plus property- and sales-tax exemptions. Roof-only work generally doesn’t qualify, and the federal residential solar credit ended in 2025, we won’t pretend otherwise. A tax professional can confirm what applies. See financing & incentives →
The real value, no finger-pointing
Bundling roof and solar with one team avoids paying twice to remove and reinstall an array later, and gives you a single-source lifetime roof-penetration warranty instead of two contractors blaming each other.
Why homeowners bundle roof + solar
One team, one warranty, no finger-pointing
The roof and the panels on it come from the same local crew, so there’s a single accountable party for every layer.
- One accountable teamRoof and solar from the same local crew, no subcontractor hand-offs, no warranty finger-pointing.
- No re-roofing under panelsReplace an aging roof before the array goes on, and skip the cost of tearing panels off later.
- Lifetime roof-penetration warrantyEvery penetration we seal is warrantied for the life of the system, a leak we caused is ours to fix, on top of 25-yr manufacturer + 10-yr workmanship.
Solar roofing FAQ
The questions we hear on almost every call
Do I need a new roof before installing solar?
Not always. If your roof has plenty of life left, panels can go straight on. If it’s near end-of-life, replacing it first avoids removing the array later. Our free roof condition assessment tells you honestly which applies to you.
How old is too old for a roof to get solar?
There’s no single number, it depends on the material, condition, and remaining life, not just age. We inspect the actual roof rather than guess, and only recommend replacement when it genuinely makes sense.
Does installing solar void my roof warranty?
It can when roof and solar are done by different companies. Because we do both in-house, every penetration is sealed and warrantied by us, including a lifetime roof-penetration warranty, so coverage stays clear and single-source.
Can one company handle both the roof and the solar?
Yes, that’s the point of this service. One local team assesses the roof, replaces or repairs it if needed, and installs the solar, so there’s a single accountable party for the whole system.
What happens if a roof penetration leaks after install?
If a penetration we made ever leaks, we fix it, for the life of the system, under our roof-penetration warranty. You call one team, not two contractors pointing at each other.
